Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center (GCIC)

GCIC was created to accelerate the development and commercialization of cardiovascular technologies and related products based on research from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute. This focus on the cardiovascular (CV) therapeutic area, which is estimated at more than $400 billion in the US, represents the single largest market opportunity within the $2.1 trillion healthcare sector.
The GCIC accelerator is a central incubator for CV startup companies, spinning off new companies to develop and commercialize new CV technologies. Successful incubation results in economic growth from new business development and the creation of hundreds of new jobs in Fairfax and throughout northeast Ohio.
The 50,000 square foot technology accelerator opened in May 2010 and is located on Cedar Avenue at East 100th Street. The $23 million facility was built from a partnership between Cleveland Clinic and FRDC.
