Innovation Square (IS) is a strategic investment project that targets and catalyzes real estate development in the Fairfax neighborhood. Innovation Square leverages a section of the neighborhood in close proximity to anchor institution development and a long-promised transportation project that has become reality. The first phase, “Playwright Park” is designed to celebrate the neighborhood’s rich cultural history and neighborhood asset, Karamu House, the first multicultural theater in the United States.
IS was designed to provide new, better, and more varied full-spectrum housing options to expand the residential population including mixed-income multifamily units, single-family for sale homes and rental townhomes.
Griot Village provides affordable housing for intergenerational families. The project targets persons 55 and older with legal custody of minor children and is located on Central Avenue between East 80th and East 83rd Streets. The project is the first in Ohio to address the housing needs of this population. It includes a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom townhomes and features a community center that provides educational, social, and recreational services to its residents. Griot Village is a partnership between Fairfax Renaissance and Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA).
