Louis Stokes Award

The Louis Stokes Visionary Award honors and recognizes individuals who are committed to community development, provide leadership and vision, and help to maintain the quality of life for those who live and work in communities such as Fairfax.

FDRC first gave the award in 1996 to Stokes to honor him for his work in helping Cleveland become designated as an “Empowerment Zone” and Stokes’ assistance to the organization to help complete the Bicentennial Project, the only legacy project for Cleveland’s Bicentennial.
